Centre “Na Sumskom” is a multiprofile istitution of additional (non-formal) education. It is one of the oldest out-of-school establishments not only in Moscow, but also in Russia. Its primary goal is to provide children with opportunity of doing what interests them most, as well as to develop their creative abilities; to assist paretns and school in upbringing and educating gifted children and organizing children’s leisure time.

For more than 15 years the successful work of the Centre is ensured by its director Elena Abramova – the honoured worker of culture of Russian Federation. This talented, creative woman fills the Centre with energy; under her guidance new original projects and programs spring into life.

The Centre is attended by over 2500 children and youths aged 5 – 18.

Centre “Na Sumskom” has its own traditions. Among them are the meetings with the centre alumni, experimental camping tours, touristic trips, guest tours and parties for parents, concert programs for the citizens of the nighbourhood, meetings with prominent people, etc.

Centre “Na Sumskom” is one of the most interesting istitutions of non-formal education in Moscow and Russia. It is the laureate of the 1st All-Russian Contest of Educational Programs, laureate of All-Russian Youth Forum, etc. Seven groups have been awarded the title Model Child Group, 24 groups are the prize-winners of various national and international festivals.

In 2001 Centre “Na Sumskom” became the member of European Association of Institutions Non-Formal Education for Children and Young People (EAICY). Since then the Centre has taken an active part in the work of EAICY, and the director of the Centre was elected a member of Control Commission of EAICY.

Gifted students of the Centre have an opportunity to obtain scholarships.

The Centre is open to new contacts which promote international coperation via art. The art groups of the Centre are regular participants of international contests, festivals and projects.
